A New Beer to be Launched OLD WHARF BITTER ABV 4.2%
Old Wharf Bitter is a special collector’s brew, a one off special, never to be repeated. It is brewed using Maris Otter Pale Ale malt, Malted Wheat and Crystal Malt made from Rye. The hops used for bitterness are Organic Pacific Gem from New Zealand, Organic Target from the UK with a late addition of traditional English Fuggles. For a fine aroma each cask is dry hopped with English Goldings. The Beer has a distinctive burnished copper colour
The beer has a complex aroma involving apples, butterscotch and hops. The beer hits the palate with a dry bitter tang that then softens and rounds out to a biscuity malt centre. The finish is clean and flinty. This beer is big enough to accompany steak and roast beef and yet subtle enough to enjoy it with a pork pie and a chunk of cheese.
This special brew will be available from Monday 27th September 2004.
